With a major auction to be held ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, and as two new teams are added to the list of IPL players, the point at which the franchises mention the number of players they can keep is ahead of the auction.

As reported by Cricbuzz, negotiations are taking place between the Indian Cricket Regulatory Board (BCCI) and franchise owners on the number of players who can be held by each right. The franchises can accommodate up to three Indian players and two overseas players with a total number of retained players not exceeding four.
The report added that a formal declaration on custody law would be made after the two franchises were brought to the ship. The sale of the two new teams is expected to take place on October 25 in Dubai.
It is unlikely that existing franchises will be allowed to use the Right to Match (RTM) option at a major auction. Any franchise that chooses to retain four players will have to spend 35-40 percent of its money on a total fund called 90 crore per franchise for next year.
Thanks & Regards
